Thanks for the question. We use caramel color in some of our drinks including Coca-Cola to help give them their well-known coloring and taste. Caramel color contains tiny amounts of a substance called 4-MEI. The levels of 4-MEI in our drinks are safe, and have been thoroughly tested by scientists and independent experts including the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA)/US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
