Ho Chi Minh City, March 20th, 2020 – Coca-Cola Vietnam announced today that it is suspending its advertising and rechanneling its advertising budget to support COVID-19 relief and response efforts. As a first step, the company has partnered with the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) to donate hygiene supplies and beverages valued at over 7 billion VND to front-line healthcare staff, medical centers and areas currently under quarantine. This contribution from Coca-Cola comes as the Prime Minister calls for public support during this challenging time.
Specifically, together with Vietnam Red Cross Society, Coca-Cola Vietnam will donate 200,000 face masks, 98,000 bars of soap, 18,000 bottles of sanitizing liquid and 13,000 bottles of hand sanitizer, together with high-quality beverage products. These supplies will be distributed to medical staff in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang and communities in quarantined areas of Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Ninh Thuan, and Binh Thuan.
“Coca-Cola Vietnam is deeply concerned about the growing impact of COVID-19 in Vietnam. These are challenging times for all of us, and we are fully committed to doing everything we can to help and make a difference,” said Mr. Peeyush Sharma, CEO of Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam Limited.
In light of the evolving situation, Coca-Cola has decided that its commercial advertising in Vietnam will be put on hold for the next month. The advertising space and budgets of Coca-Cola will be re-directed towards supporting COVID-19 relief and response efforts for the most affected communities. The company’s advertising funds will be donated to NGOs and other partners on the ground to support the incredible efforts of healthcare workers and people on the frontline as well as vulnerable communities.
“Vietnam Red Cross Society highly appreciates the partnership efforts of Coca-Cola and its support to the community during this challenging time. The company is not only donating essential medical supplies but also helping to lift the spirit of work-forces and communities in COVID-19 control and prevention,” said Mrs. Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu, Chairwoman of Vietnam Red Cross Society.
